"MANOR HILL", "PUERTO AISEN" & "NIGHT SHIFT": SONGS RECORDED ON ALL 7 CONTINENTS
INTERCONTINEN7AL's Aymar de Lichtervelde performs his original bossa nova song "Butterflies" from Princess Elisabeth Station, 2/4/2024
Apothecary: "'Apothecary' is an interesting song; the vocals are beautiful, and some things about its structure and production reminded me of Red Hot Chili Peppers' 'Under the Bridge' ... 'Apothecary' shows that Intercontinen7al is a band with a lot of potential. "
Albatross Flight: "Proves yet again great music knows no borders. "
Fire: "Just wait until they can all tour, brilliant stuff again!"
Apothecary: "With a roster of over 30 musicians based in fifteen different countries and a set of musical influences, inspirations, and infusions that take in everything from alternative & hard rock to folk, pop, and blues, and from jazz, Latin and funk to metal, gospel and progressive music, and even finding room for classical, reggae, bluegrass, bossa nova and show tunes in their music, it is clear that this is no ordinary musical approach. Perhaps the first band to own the term “world music” in its truest, broadest, and most meaningful sense. Taken from their album Vol.5 the latest single, “Apothecary,” is a deft blend of bluesy vibes, soulful guitar licks, shimmering sonics, and spacious beats. We have a song that tips its hat to past traditions and familiar sounds but which makes music with its eyes fixed firmly on the road ahead. This is music making in the modern age, a time when sound and style, genre, and even geography are no longer obstacles, thanks to advancements in modern communication and musical technology. Such opportunities have been around for a while now, but few, if any, have embraced its potential quite in the way that Intercontinen7al has."
Soul Search: "The jazzy horns and rich guitar licks and keys all come together like peas in a pod...the vocals are rich and sublime."
Puerto Aisen: "The musicality is stunning here I must say, and the manner in which the guitars are arranged drew me in too."
Pebble: " Daaaaaaaamn! Loved the experimental nature of the track and the horns brought the track to life in an amazing way."
Lipstick on Your Collar: "..A suavely grooving rock success from Intercontinen7al, a digital project comprising members from all seven continents. The track’s composition and recording took place across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia — seizing upon a soulful rock charisma reminiscent of Unknown Mortal Orchestra... the vocals intoxicate alongside hazy guitar pulses and smooth brassy adornments, maintaining a hypnotic and immersive soundscape throughout."
Fire: "This fantastic single ‘Fire‘ is one of 12 original songs that were made to show the world that when you put your energies together- anything is possible. The world feels like it is on fire at the moment and with peaceful music like this, full of wonderful instruments and soothing vocals to transport your mind to happier times.- your mood and perspective is immediately better. The differing layers of intrigue are vast here, as this is a song with real meaning and grace. Luckily, through this song we have something to hold onto and look towards the sky for hope, while turning this on loud for all to hear. ‘Fire‘ from the world team of musicians that call themselves Intercontinen7al, is a timeless song that has been fused together to bring hope to the anxiety-filled world of lost souls. Music is the bond that all of us share, not matter what our race, beliefs or what kind of genres we enjoy. If we all work together like this inspiring group has, change and unity is indeed possible."
Night Shift: "Enlisting musicians from every corner of the globe, Intercontinen7al’s Night Shift is as groundbreaking as it is resplendent. "
Puerto Aisen: "Another gorgeous multi-cultural musical travelogue. The array of sounds and styles and genres and regions on display is impressive -- like someone combining disparate ingredients from South America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe into a great-tasting gourmet dish. You wouldn't expect all the elements to go together as well as they do. "
Manor Hill: Intercontinen7al "deliver over seven and a half minutes of progressive epicness! An impressive feat, but then factor in the track features contributions from all four corners of the globe and that is doubly impressive. Manor Hill is an amazing piece of music and you can hear little echoes of the seven continents throughout in some of the scales and musical ideas. This is a piece that would make even the seventies prog gods sit up and listen! "
Puerto Aisen: "I absolutely love Intercontinen7al, I think the concept of the band is a great one, especially in these times. Music really does have the power to bring people together, and Intercontinen7al have proved that, time and time again. A wonderful new track, I love the fusion of musical ideas, Latin rhythm meets Middle Eastern melody! A great piece of work."
Manor Hill: "I have to say, that's quite a feat: 7 continents. I expected an instrumental mess, quite honestly. I was very pleasantly surprised. The transitions were enough to keep me interested in where the "story" was going next. And, this was certainly an auditory journey. ..there are elements of several genres and themes throughout: from Celtic yarling to Caribbean flow, to pop, rock, metal, show tunes. What could have easily been a disaster was pulled together very well, everything considered. I don't think I have heard anything quite like it, you're right. It was a treat. For the complexity and creativity alone, I'd rate this an 8/10. It's haunting in places and almost fanciful in others. That is incredibly difficult to pull off in one genre, let alone several. Kudos to you all for the hard work and thank you for the pleasure of allowing me this review. I really enjoyed this one!"
Puerto Aisen: "If I had just one word for this track, it would be - Bliss. But worry not, I'm gonna go in depth. Firstly, the track is absolutely beautiful. Extremely well written and produced. Can definitely hear the multi-cultural influences, almost like a Carlos Santana track. The track starts off well, and progresses rather organically as each new element is introduced in the mix. It's gradual, soothing and keeps one engaged (wanting more). The mix is wide and crisp, with a fair bit of dynamics... The master sounds polished, balanced and ready for a release. Overall can't stress how beautiful this track is, and how well it's been executed. We normally don't rate this high, but this one is a definite 9+ /10 Terrific job, and all the very best!"
